Wolz Nautic delivers a new teak deck for Gorch Fock II
The market leader for ship floor coverings, Wolz Nautic from Gaukönigshofen in lower Franconia, has been contracted with the measurement, production and installation of a new teak deck for the training sailing ship of the German Navy, the “Gorch Fock II”.
The world-renowned three-masted schooner’s home port is Kiel. It has been in Bremen for maintenance for a while, and is being overhauled by the Elsflether Werft on the stern, deck, rigging and equipment. In addition to outer repairs, the German Navy is also setting new standards for ship safety. Among other things, it is improving capsizing safety, communications equipment and life-saving equipment.
In addition to these aspects, it is using innovative products from Wolz Nautic from Gaukönigshofen to reduce weight and noise. This is done through the use of 3D milled “fire-protective cork” as levelling. Also, the use of teak is reduced by half thanks to this innovative system from lower Franconia. In addition to significant weight and noise reductions, it also offers improved sustainability.
“We are pleased that Wolz Nautic can contribute its part to maintaining this historical sailing ship,” said Wolz Nautic’s Managing Director, Michael Wolz. “We have already begun with our planning for the teak deck refit. The next step is to perform the measurements. Technicians who are interested and would like to work with us can give us a call,” said Wolz. The expanding market leader for pre-fabricated ship decks has a high need for staff; open positions are described on its website www.wolznautic.de/karriere
