The carbon components of Multiplex GmbH are in demand among yacht owners worldwide. Of the 100 longest yachts in the world, the Bremen company supplied a total of 80.

Every year, various superyacht magazines or websites publish a ranking of the 100 or 200 largest yachts in the world. In addition to the length, the shipyard and some technical details such as the propulsion power are usually given.

However, it is almost always unknown which components were installed on board and which suppliers were involved. “Even we ourselves cannot disclose this information because we sign confidentiality agreements,” says Jan Reiners, CEO of Multiplex GmbH, the world’s leading manufacturer of mega yacht equipment made of carbon.

In order to demonstrate the market position of the Bremen-based company nevertheless, Reiners went through the current ranking to at least determine the number of yachts that are on the move with Multiplex products. “Of the 100 longest yachts,” says Reiners, “we have supplied 80. There are probably very few companies that come up with such a quota”.

Expressed in length, these 80 yachts mean a total of 8030.39 metres. The bestsellers are or were the bathing ladders, sun awning and fender systems from Multiplex. The seal “Made in Germany” is in demand worldwide. Jan Reiners: “There is probably no yacht building nation to which we have not yet delivered”.

Claus-Ehlert Meyer, Managing Director of the German Boat and Shipbuilders’ Association and thus also its working group Deutsche Yachten, comments: “Multiplex GmbH is an excellent example of the position German suppliers hold in the global yacht industry. There are many other members in the working group who are operating at a similar level”.
