Advanced structures and components in stainless steel, aluminium or steel, but also in titanium, non-ferrous metal or fine-grained steel are made by the experts. The metal experts at Otto Schlötel GmbH deliver complete solutions, from the design and manufacture through to the finishing, and are suppliers for most Superyachts built in Germany with the experience of around 60 Superyacht sub-contracts in new build and refit. The “Metal Experts Otto Schlötel” have contributed to half of the world’s Top Ten Superyachts with railings and other components.
The range of parts designed and manufactured by the Metal Experts includes deck equipment and custom made fittings as well as complete solutions such as railing systems (which may also include Carbon or GRP elements) and other structures made of stainless steel.
Modern 3D CAD design, directly linked to cutting edge CNC machines and a wealth of experience: The Metal Experts have a solution for every challenge in metal. On a CNC-controlled profile bending machine not only round but also oval pipes can be formed in three dimensions into complex forms with the highest precision. Due to our upgrade in machinery we can now also produce much larger stainless steel bands for railings and other applications. The “usual” handrails for Superyachts so far had a dimension of 120 by 80 millimetres, however the Metal Experts have currently made them in 310 by 100 millimetres and milled them to contour. Variable roller spacing and a modular tool set ensure an optimal adjustment to the particular profile. With the CNC contour control system, even spline curves are possible.
The Metal Experts “Metallexperten Otto Schlötel GmbH” are currently 55 metal experts with a combined professional experience of over 1000 years that specialise on yacht equipment, industry components and food technology. The company was already founded in 1903 in Kiel as “Karl Schlötel Stahlbau und Elektroinstallation“. Currently the company is building their new headquarters with 2600 square metres in Melsdorf near Kiel, this new plant will be ready to start production in January 2019. www.metallexperten.de
“Metallexperten Otto Schlötel” is part of the working group Deutsche Yachten – Superyacht Germany. This is made by a number of select German companies that are active in the build and equipping of yachts of more than 30 metres in length. This working group is part of the German Boat and Shipbuilder’s Trade association DBSV (Deutscher Boots- und Schiffbauer-Verband) in which all relevant companies of the German yachting industry are organised. The aim of the group is to promote yacht-building in Germany and inform about the many services and resources that Germany has to offer this industry. www.deutsche-yachten.de
