On Saturday, July 28 Hamburg harbour was “the place to be” for yachtspeople and their guests. The celebration was for the “Atlantic Anniversary Regatta” and the third and last leg from Bermuda to Hamburg. The event began on board the MV Seute Deern in Hamburg’s Sandtorhafen, and then moved over to the iconic MV Cap San Diego, one of the town’s landmarks, with a fitting water-shuttle by boat. “Deutsche Yachten – Superyacht Germany” was one of the sponsors for both parts of the event. The chairman of the “Norddeutscher Regatta Verein” NRV, Andreas Christiansen, welcomed the guests on board MV Seute Deern with, among others, these words: “Here we can also see the state of ocean racing today.” Numerous guests came together, among those also the president of the German Sailing Association, Mrs Mona Küppers, and Senator Frank Horch. After the short boat trip across to MV Cap San Diego, more sailors and guests joined the party for the official prize-giving. “Deutsche Yachten –Superyacht Germany” was well visible on board both ships. Especially so as the group “Deutsche Yachten- Superyacht Germany” as well as their member companies Piening Propeller, Multiplex and Kaefer Schiffsausbau had booked the special effect of their logos, and that of “Deutsche Yachten”, to be projected on bulkheads and ceiling on board the MV Cap San Diego. The many personal conversations and informal discussions that were possible mainly after the prize-giving ceremony and the truly delicious buffet dinner made attendance especially worth-while. The party continued with dancing and celebrations well into the early hours of the next morning. Altogether an evening that will be long remembered by all those with the good fortune of having been part of it.
