With propulsion engineering GmbH and Uwe Petry Feine Steine GmbH, the Deutsche Yachten group accepted two new members.

Propulsion engineering GmbH has been a service provider for measurement technology in the marine sector since 2004 and has also offered the calculation and alignment of shaft systems since 2008. Since 2018, the portfolio has also included the assembly of complete propulsion systems and on-site mechanical processing. Today, the company is one of the most experienced companies in the alignment of rotating machinery and shafting systems. In addition to commercial shipping, the Elmshorn-based company has also been serving various customers from the superyacht sector for several years. The range of services includes analysis based on precise, in-house measurements, the development of proposed solutions in close consultation with the customer, and the subsequent implementation or monitoring of implementation. The propulsion engineering team makes use of state-of-the-art equipment and software as well as profound know-how gained from 19 years of experience.

“From the very beginning, it has been our objective to go beyond surveying and offer well-founded analyses and solutions derived from them, always putting the customer and his needs first,” says Dipl.-Ing. Siegfried Günther, who founded the company at the time. “As a German company, you have to offer quality above all – and that’s exactly what we do. We assess systems comprehensively and from different angles, which allows us to weigh up possible approaches and ultimately derive an optimal solution. Ultimately, we are the ones who make your ship roadworthy.”

Siegfried Günther headed his company as managing director until the beginning of 2023. Since Jan. 1, he has handed over management to Oliver Matzeit as CEO and Daniel Hinz as COO.

Uwe Petry Feine Steine GmbH, the second new Deutsche Yachten member, sells interior and exterior stone furnishings in Schmelz, Saarland. These are handcrafted one-of-a-kind pieces made from sometimes rare natural stones that have been treated using state-of-the-art technology and processes. The company’s flagship products include kitchen countertops, tile work, and massive desks made of first-class materials such as onyx, Irish green, and silver wave. Thanks to modern four- and five-axis milling machines as well as five-axis water jet systems, Uwe Petry’s workshop in Schmelz can process just about any material. In addition, Uwe Petry offers its customers individual planning and consulting with 3D display, digital measurement systems and state-of-the-art technology, as well as delivery and installation of interior and exterior construction measures. “We are a dedicated team of 20 professionals and stand for truly high-quality craftsmanship and first-class materials, which are turned into individual one-offs with the help of state-of-the-art technology,” says managing director and company founder Uwe Petry.

Particularly eye-catching, especially for the luxury market, and a hobbyhorse of Uwe Petry are the so-called translucent stones. In this process, translucent stone types are cut extremely thin and then illuminated from behind, resulting in an amazing and exclusive result. In 2017, Uwe Petry installed translucent stones on a 30-meter slup for the first time, establishing himself in the yacht industry. “Like every superyacht, every stone is unique – it’s a symbiosis that belongs together,” says Petry. In addition to the production site in Schmelz, the company also operates a branch in Mallorca – both locations have showrooms where the different types of stone and a rich assortment of tiles can be viewed and felt.

Claus-Ehlert Meyer, Managing Director of the German Boat and Shipbuilders Association and thus also of the Deutsche Yachten working group, is delighted with the two new additions: “With propulsion engineering GmbH and Uwe Petry Feine Steine GmbH, our network has been enriched by two unique and interesting companies. I am delighted to welcome them to Deutsche Yachten.”
