Founded in 2000, the working group Deutsche Yachten can rightfully be called a success story as it celebrates its 25th anniversary. The milestone was marked by a festive reception with 250 guests at the Norddeutscher Regatta Verein in Hamburg.
This year, Deutsche Yachten celebrates a quarter of a century of excellence, bringing together 250 guests from Germany and abroad at a vibrant reception held at the Norddeutscher Regatta Verein on the shores of Hamburg’s Outer Alster Lake.
For 25 years, the name Deutsche Yachten has stood for quality, innovation, and collaboration in the German superyacht industry. What began in 2000 with 17 committed companies has since grown into a renowned industry platform setting international benchmarks.
The group was founded at a time when it became clear that superyacht construction in Germany was developing into a serious industrial sector. Iconic yachts like Limitless and Al Salamah were launching from the docks of the renowned Lürssen shipyard during this period.
The founding goal of Deutsche Yachten was to unite the strengths of German shipyards, suppliers, and service providers in the yachting sector and to enhance their collective international presence. What emerged was a network that has since become synonymous worldwide with reliability, precision, and craftsmanship.
“The idea was to create a strong community capable of standing shoulder to shoulder with international competitors—particularly from the Netherlands—without compromising the individuality of each company,” recalls Torsten Conradi, CEO of judel/vrolijk, one of the founding members and now chairman of the group. Alongside Conradi and judel/vrolijk, the initial leadership circle included Gebr. Friedrich, Neue Jade Werft, Simrad, Egon Sander Hydraulik, Klinzing & Partner, and Newcruise.
Today, the working group brings together more than 60 companies along the entire superyacht value chain—from renowned shipyards and cutting-edge design studios to highly specialized equipment suppliers. At major international events such as the Monaco Yacht Show, the Palma International Boat Show, and boot Düsseldorf, Deutsche Yachten maintains a strong presence with its own joint exhibition stands—serving both as a hub for members and clients, and as a showcase for the “Made in Germany” label. To date, the group has participated in over 120 trade fairs across seven countries.
But the focus extends beyond marketing “Made in Germany.” The group also prioritizes knowledge sharing, fostering the next generation of professionals, and advancing sustainable technologies. Increasingly, it is involved in topics such as low-emission propulsion systems, new materials, and digital innovation in shipbuilding.
“Twenty-five years of Deutsche Yachten is not only a reason to celebrate—it’s also a moment to look ahead,” says Torsten Conradi. “We firmly believe that the future of superyacht construction in Germany is bright—as long as we continue to think collectively, act collaboratively, and embrace innovation.”
