Deutsche Yachten welcomes two new members

JFM NauticConsult and Uhsadel Rechtsanwälte strengthen the expertise of the working group.

The Deutsche Yachten working group, part of the German Maritime Industries Association (VMWD), continues to expand its network with the addition of two new members. Their expertise further strengthens the group’s capabilities across the entire yacht-building value chain – from project management and consultancy to specialised legal services.

With Jan Mittelmann the working group welcomes a recognised expert in complex yacht projects. As Managing Partner of JFM NauticConsult GmbH, Mittelmann brings more than two decades of experience in yacht construction, specialised shipbuilding, owner’s representation and technical inspections.
His portfolio includes new build and refit supervision, project management, technical consulting and representing owners’ interests in dealings with shipyards and suppliers. Through this unique interface between owners, builders and subcontractors, he has developed a comprehensive understanding of the technical, commercial and organisational aspects of international yacht construction.
His appointment significantly enhances the working group’s expertise in project management and quality assurance – two disciplines that are becoming increasingly important as superyacht projects continue to grow in complexity.

The second new member is Uhsadel Rechtsanwälte, a Hamburg-based law firm with more than five decades of maritime legal expertise. Since 1974, the firm’s partners have specialised in selected areas of maritime commercial law and have established a strong reputation, particularly in shipping and yachting law.
The firm’s services include drafting and negotiating yacht purchase and shipbuilding contracts, advising on yacht transactions, and providing legal guidance on flag registration under both German and international registries. In addition, Uhsadel advises clients on warranty matters, marine insurance and charter agreements. The firm also represents clients in disputes relating to damage claims, marine casualties and yacht racing.
With this broad spectrum of expertise, Uhsadel brings an important legal perspective to the working group, particularly at the interface between shipyards, owners, insurers and international markets. As regulatory requirements within the yachting industry continue to evolve, expert legal advice throughout the entire lifecycle of a yacht is becoming increasingly important. Dr Jan Philipp Tietjen, Partner at Uhsadel Rechtsanwälte, will represent the firm within Deutsche Yachten.

With these two new members, Deutsche Yachten further strengthens its position as an interdisciplinary network dedicated to promoting Germany’s yacht-building industry. Its objective remains to enhance the international visibility and competitiveness of German yacht building while fostering closer collaboration and synergies between shipyards, suppliers and specialised service providers.
