A successful start to the season for the Mini Maxi Racer from judel/vrolijk & co.
The company is well represented in the new Mini Maxi Racer class with four new designs. The class consists of 60 - 79ft LOA yachts racing under IRC rules. The new 72’ IRC racer ‘RAN’ sailed straight into the limelight, winning the Mini Maxi Group in the Regate Pirelli Copa Carlo Negri. judel/vrolijk & co have also introduced their latest design in this class, ‘Jethou’, a 60ft IRC racer. This yacht will make her debut at the Giraglia Rolex Cup regatta. ‘CONTAINER’ and ‘LUNA ROSSA’ have been designed to comply with the still very new STP65 „box“ rule. This new class has no sailing events of its own as yet, but takes part in the international Mini Maxi regattas – with impressive results!
The MedCup is now in its fifth season, and although the number of entrants has dwindled to 13, the intensity has stepped up. This was particularly apparent after the first race in Alicante, which ended with only four points between the first and fourth yachts. judel/vrolijk & co have designed two of the three new builds in this class for the 2009 season, ‘MATADOR’ and ‘ARTEMIS’ Another six boats designed by judel/vrolijk & co from 2007 and 2008 are also taking part in this spectacular race series. The New Generation TP52s ‘MATADOR’ and ‘ARTEMIS’ demonstrated their potential straight away at the Trofeo de Alicante, achieving outstanding results by taking first and second place.
