Individual Yacht Solutions
SAILTEC supplies technical products for yachtbuilding, architecture, shipbuilding and industry. Our system solutions are custom developed for each commission and made individually. We like being creative in areas where no standard product exists. We work in a project-oriented way, to the highest
yachting standards. In over 25 years we have acquired much expertise in boat and shipbuilding, composite techniques, wood and metal and also in textile and membrane technology. We think it important to have flexible project teams and when necessary we are also happy to bring in external expertise if this optimises output. Thus we canoffer our customers extensive competence in resolving the widest range of problems.
Our core products are textile structures for temporary and permanent use, and systems for regulating light and air. What is more, we have creative specialist knowledge of implementation of the widest technical system requirements in the equipping and fitting out of yachts. SAILTEC’s service includes design, engineering, manufacture and installation – in other words the complete turnkey package. Our representation of several well-known international brands is a valuable addition to our portfolio.
What is special about Talitha is that she is a genuine classic yacht. 80 metres long, she was built at the Krupp Germania Yard in Kiel in 1929, and is still in immaculate condition today. Talitha’s sun awning was designed to meet the following specifications:
The awning was rigged by us at Blohm & Voss Repair in Hamburg where the yacht was lying over the winter of 2007-2008 for refit.
In the spring of 2008 we supplied the textile sun awning for Lürssen’s 154-metre build project Sunflower. This one-piece membrane with an area of just
under 400 m² is designed to withstand a wind strength of 100 knots and thus conceived for permanent use in all weathers. As its aerofoil-shaped profile generates lift of 34 tonnes in a maximum wind load, the supporting high gloss steel structure for the sunsail has been dimensioned on 168mm diameter tubes with a maximum wall thickness of 11mm. Inside the white membrane there is a 12-piece blue liner which is only rigged for special events. The system is completed by six removable folding side panels. These shade an area of 36m2 on each side of the ship, or 72m2 in total, with each panel measuring 2m x 6m.
